Project description
Rob Has a Podcast (RHAP) is a prominent podcast network specializing in Reality TV shows such as Survivor and Big Brother. Founded by former Survivor contestant Rob Cesternino, the network required a redesign of its digital presence.
In March 2024, I was engaged to overhaul the RHAP website and develop a native app to create a cohesive experience across multiple devices. Working closely with the founder, product manager, and developer, we aimed to enhance user experience and engagement for the network’s audience.

Challenge
The primary challenge was to design a next-generation website and native app that would significantly improve user experience and engagement. The existing RHAP website, built on WordPress, lacked flexibility and modern features, limiting customization and hampering user satisfaction.
Objective
Our objective was to create a new front-end for the RHAP website that would also function seamlessly as a native app. The goal was to deliver a superior, customizable experience, improving user interaction and fostering a strong sense of community among listeners.

To position RHAP effectively, I conducted competitor, industry, and user research to understand podcast app experiences. A focus group of active and new listeners highlighted key pain points and insights:

These deliverables guided the creation of low-fidelity wireframes in Balsamiq and their refinement into mid-fidelity prototypes in Figma, helping identify improvements and prepare for user testing.

I used an affinity map to organize observations, comments, and errors, then analyzed them with a rainbow spreadsheet and prioritized errors using Jakob Nielsen’s severity rating scale.
